This event has potential to enhance commerce in Sulphur Springs. On April 8th, 2024, at approximately 1:30pm, the solar eclipse will pass through our State of Arkansas with a 98% viewing visibility. This Historical and astrological event will not happen again until 2044. According to the Arkansas House of Representatives, over 1.5 million people will be visiting Arkansas to observe this spectacular sight. As a border city of Arkansas, Sulphur Springs can expect heavier traffic than usual and more passerby traveling south on Hwy 59 into Arkansas.
This is an opportunity for Local businesses and vendors to exhibit and share their craft: Artisan bakers, local health professionals, healing arts, homesteaders, produce growers, and musicians. —inspiring a family-friendly, people-friendly hometown atmosphere.

Land owners also have an opportunity to host campers in a Natural camp setting or Rv hook-ups with water and/or electric. Airbnb is another option. These have potential to bring in future compensation and returning visitors.

There are large cities already preparing for spectators by implementing safety codes, parking, housing, eclipse specials and safety eclipse merchandise. A smalltown welcome and stay for visitors could be more attractive than the larger, busier cities like Little Rock.

Let’s give a hometown welcome for visitors of the Great American Eclipse, and the opportunity to share the community spirit of Sulphur Springs.
